We were so thrilled to welcome our friends Chris and Amy to Brussels for a short visit this past weekend. We had the very best time showing them around a bit and having the kids all play together.
We started out Saturday with a trip to the Stockel market for an obligatory waffle, then headed downtown for a little sightseeing. The Gallery never disappoints, especially on a cold, damp day, so we headed there and made this little lady’s morning with some insanely rich chocolate mousse from Neuhaus.
After that we headed to the Grand Place, where it was blustery to say the least.. unfortunately I think their memory of it will be mostly getting hailed on and cowering under an awning. Brrrussels strikes again! We quickly made a break for it and ducked into Chez Leon for moules frites. If you’re looking for a tasty mussels spot near the Grand Place that just so happens to be very kid-friendly, this is your place!
The little guys’ matching bibs were entirely random.. guess we just all liked owls that day!
With the weather being so Brussels-y, by that point we were ready to head home and let the kiddos nap. We had a cozy afternoon and evening with lots of playtime, and a few rounds of Cards Against Humanity after the kiddos were tucked into bed. Sunday was also very low-key, we hosted brunch for a few mutual friends and just caught up over yummy frittata, an oatmeal blueberry bake, and mimosas! And admired the cute kiddos some more, of course.
It’s always fun to see friends, even if it’s just for a few days! There is so much more we would have liked to see, but just getting to visit and let the kids play with each other was the very best time by itself.
