Easy Steak Kabobs with Pepper and Onion

Fire up the grill for these super easy steak kabobs with peppers and onions! Juicy, tender steak cubes are quickly seasoned and skewered with colorful veggies for a simple, crowd-pleasing dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/4 pounds sirloin steak trimmed and sliced into 1 and 1/2-inch cubes, see note
  • 1 Tablespoon Montreal steak seasoning see note
  • 2 bell peppers any color, chopped into 1-inch chunks
  • 1 small red onion chopped into 1-inch chunks

Instructions

  • Season and prep. Cut the steak and season generously on all sides with Montreal seasoning. Set aside while you chop the veggies, gather skewers, and preheat the grill to medium-high.
1 and 1/4 pounds sirloin steak, 1 Tablespoon Montreal steak seasoning
  • Assemble kabobs. Thread the steak, peppers, and onions onto skewers, alternating as you go.
2 bell peppers, 1 small red onion
  • Grill. Place kabobs directly on the preheated grate and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, until the meat is as done as you like. (Even rare steak should typically reach 120°-125°F.)
  • Serve. Remove skewers from the heat, let rest for 3-4 minutes, then serve. If using metal skewers, be aware that the ends may still be hot!

Notes

  • Steak: You can substitute beef or sirloin tips, which will typically be pre-cut into cubes that are a good size for grilling. This is a great time-saver.
  • Seasoning: Substitute any other steak or burger seasoning blend that you like, or make your own. A simplified substitute for 1 Tbsp. Montreal is to use 1/2 Tbsp. kosher salt, 1/2 Tbsp. black pepper, 1 tsp. garlic powder, and 1/2 teaspoon sweet or smoky paprika. Adjust or add other spices to taste.
  • Prep Ahead: If you want to get ahead, you can season the steak, assemble the skewers, and store in the refrigerator for 4-6 hours prior to grilling.
