Ingredient Notes

  • Steak: Sirloin steak is tender and flavorful with little effort. Save time by purchasing beef or sirloin tips, which are typically pre-cut into cubes suitable for grilling.
  • Bell pepper and onion. Any color.
  • Seasoning: We use Montreal steak seasoning as a super quick blend. Substitute any other steak or burger seasoning blend that you like, or make your own.

Need a simplified substitute for 1 Tbsp. Montreal seasoning? Combine 1/2 Tbsp. kosher salt, 1/2 Tbsp. black pepper, 1 tsp. garlic powder, and 1/2 teaspoon sweet or smoky paprika. Adjust or add other spices to taste.

Sourcing Tip

We purchase pre-cut beef tips directly from ButcherBox and have been extremely happy with the quality and convenience time and time again.

Tips & Tricks for Success

Use Metal Skewers. Wooden skewers are routinely available at grocery stores in the summer, but a minimal investment in one set of metal skewers means you’ll never have to look for them at the last minute, soak them before placing on the grill, or worry about small splinters.

Add Other Veggies. Toss on some summer squash, cherry tomatoes, or any other veggies you have in the garden or fridge. Skewers are meant to be a little free-wheeling.

Prep Ahead. If you want to get ahead, season the steak, fully assemble the skewers, and store in the refrigerator for 4-6 hours prior to grilling.

Serving Suggestions

Serve these kabobs alongside grilled corn, a corn and tomato salad, a chilled pasta salad, or fancy watermelon wedges for the ultimate summer spread. They’re perfect for casual backyard get-togethers, weeknight dinners on the patio, or even meal prep with a flavorful twist.
