Halloween Cheese Board

Slightly spooky and super cute, this fun Halloween-inspired cheese board is perfect for serving at any party or gathering to balance out all the sugar.

Ingredients

  • 1 log mozzarella cheese pre-sliced if possible
  • 6-8 ounces prosciutto
  • 5 salami or prosciutto mozzarella roll-ups see note
  • 2-3 crackers/breads
  • 1-2 other cheeses
  • 1-2 other meats
  • chips and salsa or another dip or spread
  • black grapes such as Moon Drop, Ribier, or Black Corinth
  • olives or pickles
  • nuts, fruits, or other add-ons
  • bonus: candy eyes, spiders, vampire teeth, or other small Halloween decorations for fun

Instructions

  • First, make the "arm." Take the mozzarella log fully out of its packaging. Cut or separate a small section, about 1.5"-2", from one end, and turn it on its side to form the "hand." Wrap the remaining, longer length of the log in thin slices of prosciutto, working end to end so the whole thing is covered. Wrap the flatter "hand" portion in prosciutto as well.
  • Arrange both parts of the log in the middle of a large serving tray or board, and position a serving knife in between them so it looks like it's cutting "off" the hand. Arrange the rolled mozzarella sticks on the other side of the hand to look like fingers, slicing them off at varying lengths to mimic a shorter thumb, longer middle and ring finger, etc.
  • Set all your remaining items out on the counter so you can quickly size up what you have. Start filling in areas around the arm with a variation of fruit, crackers, slices of other cheese, etc. Add salsa or other dips in small bowls.
  • Work your way out to the edges of the board until it is full. Add any final decorative touches and extra forks or knives for grabbing/spreading/spooning the parts. Enjoy!

Notes

  • DIY: If you can't find or don't want to buy pre-made salami or prosciutto-wrapped mozzarella sticks, you can make your own by slicing off part of the mozzarella log, shaping into thinner, shorter cylinders, and wrapping those individually to look like "fingers."
  • Make Ahead: If you want to prep the "arm" ahead of time, make it fully, put on a plate, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and store in the fridge for up to a day. When ready to make the rest of the board, remove from the refrigerator and transfer carefully to your serving board of choice.
  • Dip Ideas: Some of our favorite dips to include on a cheese board include olive tapenade, blender salsa (with chips of course), savory pumpkin hummus, and sun-dried tomato white bean dip.
