Tasty BBQ chicken wraps are a top-tier quick and portable lunch! They’re a wonderful way to repurpose slow cooker BBQ chicken, or take a shortcut and toss shredded rotisserie chicken with your favorite store-bought sauce. Either way, wrap it up with crisp greens, cabbage, and carrots for a satisfying yet healthy lunch that comes along to work, the bleachers, the playground, or wherever life takes you.
A conversation with a friend recently inspired me to think of collections that let you batch-cook one protein and use it in multiple ways. After all, everyone benefits from efficiency in the kitchen!
Simple pulled BBQ chicken is an obvious win in the versatility department: it’s equally enticing in sandwiches, bowls, and stuffed sweet potatoes (my personal favorite). Wraps are a perfectly portable option to round out the set, perfect for toting along to work, school, soccer fields, and more!
Why You’ll Love These BBQ Chicken Wraps

Ingredient Notes
Coleslaw Option
If you happen to have coleslaw in the fridge, you can tuck this into a wrap in place of plain shredded cabbage and carrot, but keep in mind this will make wraps more soggy, especially if they’re not being eaten right away. To offset this, press out as much extra liquid from the coleslaw as you can.
Layer, Wrap, Done
The beauty of BBQ chicken wraps lies in how something so simple can be so delicious.
One key is to layer your wrap properly: start with a bed of crisp lettuce that covers the whole middle of the tortilla, so that the juicy chicken will not seep in too much and make it fall apart in your hands.
Add cabbage and carrots. I like a few pickles, too, but no one else in my family does! Layer on the chicken last, then wrap everything up and roll as tightly as you can.
Enjoy right away or package up for a meal that travels with you. These glass meal prep boxes work perfectly. Tiny to-go containers for extra BBQ dipping sauce and pickles are worth every penny!

BBQ Chicken Wraps
Ingredients
- 4-6 large flour tortillas or flatbreads
- 2 cups green leaf or romaine lettuce
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 2-3 cups pulled BBQ chicken cold, see note
- pickles optional
- extra BBQ sauce for dipping
Instructions
- Place tortillas on a work surface and lay a row of lettuce leaves lengthwise down the middle. Leave a bit of room on the ends so that you can fold the tortilla in later. Top with generous sprinkles of carrots and cabbage.4-6 large flour tortillas, 2 cups green leaf or romaine lettuce, 1 cup shredded carrots, 1 cup shredded cabbage
- Add chicken on top of the veggies, then carefully roll the tortilla up around the filling, rolling tightly and folding in the sides as you go.2-3 cups pulled BBQ chicken
- I like to cut the wrap in half at this point, which works well as long as you keep it seam side down on the cutting board. Enjoy right away with optional extra BBQ sauce for dipping or pickles, or package and refrigerate for up to 12 hours.pickles, extra BBQ sauce
Notes
- Chicken: I specifically designed and plan this recipe as a way to use extras from my crockpot BBQ chicken recipe, because that recipe is so easy to batch cook in large quantities. If you’d rather for any reason, just make these wraps by tossing 2-3 cups of shredded cooked chicken (such as from a rotisserie) with about ½ cup of your favorite BBQ sauce. Stir very well and use more or less sauce to taste—you just don’t want it too saucy when you add it to the wrap, otherwise it gets messy!
- Coleslaw Optional: If you happen to have coleslaw in the fridge, you can tuck this into a wrap in place of plain shredded cabbage and carrot, but keep in mind this will make wraps more soggy, especially if they’re not being eaten right away. To offset this, press out as much extra liquid from the coleslaw as you can.
- Best Packaging: These glass meal prep boxes work perfectly. Tiny to-go containers for extra BBQ dipping sauce are worth every penny!
