Hit the candy aisle and have fun with an array of chocolate, caramels, and dried fruit in silver, gold, black, and white tones. This super easy New Year’s Eve Candy Board is easy to scale and as much fun for a party as it is for a small family celebration.

Large white platter filled with candy, dried fruit, and Pirouette cookies in silver, gold, and white tones, for celebrating New Year's Eve.

Simple and Celebratory.

This pretty New Year’s candy board is simple yet celebratory, with a fun mix of metallic tones and your favorite candies arranged on a platter for sharing. As much as I love baking up a batch of champagne cupcakes or a fancy chocolate cake, by the time we’re through the holidays I’m usually ready to simplify, big time. If that means hitting the candy aisle — which is always fun for my kids, since it’s “not on the list” for most shopping trips — then let’s live it up.

While you wouldn’t have to stick to a color theme here, of course, it does help bring a sense of unity to an otherwise random assortment of treats. Gold, silver, black, and white are classic colors for a New Year’s Eve party, and fortunately give you lots of options and opportunities for variety. So have fun and say cheers!

A lot of the fun here is adding your own favorites, or letting everyone pick one or two items. Here are a few other ideas that we had:

  • Dark- or white chocolate-covered pretzels
  • Gold-wrapped chocolate coins
  • Themed M&Ms
  • Peanut brittle or pecan pralines
  • Hershey’s Kisses
  • Dark- or white chocolate-covered miniature peanut butter cups
  • White meringue cookies
  • Snowball cookies
  • Any dark chocolate!
  • Decorated sugar cookies or mini cupcakes – homemade if you’re feeling ambitious!

Top Tips for Assembling

  • Aim for a mix of items — some dried fruit, some chocolate, some caramel, etc. Variety is the spice of life.
  • Choose one item to place in the middle, then collect everything else around the edge with the goal of having similar colors on opposite sides.
  • Add some fun decorations to complete the theme — disco ball toothpicks, sparkly cupcake toppers, or just silver curling ribbon can add that final touch of festive flair. I threw this particular board together at the last minute, but if I do it again next year, you can bet those disco ball picks will be making an appearance!
