Homemade green goddess salad dressing with Greek yogurt, herbs, and jalapeño is so easy to make and way more fresh and vibrant than even the best store-bought. Use to top your favorite salads or serve as a dipping sauce for fresh veggies or chicken wraps. Creamy, herbacious, and preservative-free.
A crisp take on the iconic green goddess is the latest to join my collection of dreamily satisfying salads, and this homemade dressing is a big part of why it shines so bright. It’s creamy yet light, bursting with fresh herbs, and infused with Dijon, honey, and garlic.
Jalapeño is the one tiny ingredient that makes this green goddess dressing stand out from the pack. Just a hint of it wakes up everything else!
Ingredient Notes
A Great Use for Extra Summer Herbs
Because this recipe uses a lot of herbs and works well with different combinations of them, it’s ideal for making the most of an herb garden bumper crop. In a perfect world I’m including a lot of cilantro and dill plus a little bit of basil, chives, and parsley. Mix and match based on your own favorites and what you have; just aim for about 1 cup total, loosely-packed, and at least two different herbs for contrasting flavor.
Still more herbs than you can handle? Browse my list of ways to use basil for more ideas—it’s always the one herb that grows like crazy for me!
Blend and Go
Blitz all the ingredients in a small food processor or blender until the mixture is creamy and takes on a pale green hue. Be sure to pause, sample, and adjust seasoning to taste!
- If you want it more sweet –> add more honey or agave.
- If you want it more tangy –> add more lemon juice.
- If you want more heat –> add a little more jalapeño.
- If you want more flavor and overall “pop” –> add more salt.
Serve it up over your favorite salad, green goddess or otherwise, or serve as a dipping sauce to make a healthy afternoon snack that much more appealing. You can’t go wrong!

Blend on high speed until smooth.1 cup plain Greek yogurt, 1 cup fresh herbs, juice of 1 medium lemon, 3 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil, 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon honey , 1 teaspoon kosher salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, 1-2 cloves garlic, 1/2 jalapeño pepper
- Sample and blitz in more honey or agave nectar, lemon juice, or salt and pepper to taste. If you prefer a thinner dressing, blitz in 1-2 teaspoons of water. Stir again and store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Notes
- Adjust to Taste: Don’t skip the step of adjusting this dressing to taste! Tastebuds truly do vary, and the most common cravings will be for a dressing that’s slightly sweeter (add more honey or agave), more tart (add more lemon), or generally has more pop (add more salt).
- Adjust the Consistency: As written this yields a thick, creamy dressing similar to a thick ranch. Blitz in a small amount of water to thin it out if you like; aim to add just 1 teaspoon at a time so you don’t thin it out too much all at once.
- Store: Homemade green goddess salad dressing keeps well for at least 5 days in the fridge.
- Other Uses: Obviously great over green goddess salad; this dressing also makes a delicious dipping sauce for veggies to snack on or serve as an appetizer, a dipping sauce for chicken wraps or chicken salad sandwiches, etc.
